Lorena Diaz (Pelaez)

Victim/Witness Coordinator

Lorena Diaz (Pelaez) joined the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office in 2006. She worked as a Victim Witness Advocate for 11 years. During this time, she also served as a Domestic Violence Outreach Advocate, where she served Spanish speaking residents of Cumberland County to increase awareness on Domestic Violence. The experience she gained was instrumental in allowing her to take on the role as Victim/Witness Coordinator. In this position, she supervises victim advocates whose foremost goals are to provide information, referrals, and emotional support to victims of crimes in Cumberland County.

Lorena earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science as a Registered Nurse from Cumberland County College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from Rowan University. She also obtained a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Certification in 2015 and currently works in this role. In addition, she holds a wide range of certifications in the field of victim assistance and crisis intervention. She is also a member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses.

Lorena was presented with an award as a Health Professional Leader by Perfil Latino in 2017. This award is given to those that demonstrate their dedication and professionalism while helping the community through health services and education.
